Yesterday the mail was backed up for Veteran’s Day, so today the timing was right and I received a whole slew of great things. Two Orla Kiely bags I bought from different sources online arrived at once (one from England!), along with my two first postcards from Postcrossing, one from Illinois and one from England as well.
When I said before that I had a small obsession with Orla’s stuff I was probably being too modest. I currently own 12 of her bags. It’s my vice, damnit, everyone’s allowed at least one! (I pride myself on finding amazing prices on these bags though – I got these for basically 70% less than retail. I could definitely not feed my habit otherwise.)

I ordered some Birkenstock sandals on eBay last week. They arrived Friday; I tried them on and found they fit a little weirdly. On closer inspection, they were fake! Aarrggh.
(For comparison, picture shows real [blue] Birks on top, fakes on the bottom.)
The seller was cool about it and offered a refund, but still, sucks getting burned on eBay. Luckily I have mostly good experiences there, but the occasional issue. EBay is a mysterious beast.
I’ve been sick for ~10 days now, really sick for 5 or so of those, though the end is in sight and hopefully I’ll be back to normal soon. Friend Brandon is staying with us starting Wednesday for a while while he kicks off his library sciences courses here at UIUC, so that should be a source of adventure too; hope I feel nearly normal again by then.
I only make it to the Kane County Flea Market a few times a year, but it’s held monthly and it’s huge. I always enjoy it. Today wasn’t very mid-century-ish but I did get a few things; two Tillandsia bulbosa plants (soil-free bromeliads some call ‘air plants’), a fish fossil, and a vintage Oshkosh suitcase ($6!).
I visited my first Caputo’s Fresh Market yesterday, which is produce heaven. I walked around with my camera, and it was like free art! Today I’m headed to the Kane County Flea Market.

I’ve moved here officially and imported my handful of blogger posts. Still some tweaking to do but up and and running for the most part. New content soon.
