about
I’m a linguistics and parsing developer/programmer living in a 1950’s ranch house in Champaign, IL. The house is far from perfect but it has its charms, and my boyfriend Dustin and I are trying to make it awesome, at least on the inside. We have a cat, Mizmo, and two fish, Raleigh and Margot. In the past I’ve been a grad student (MS in biology in ‘09), a biological researcher, a standardized test content reviewer, and a university bureaucrat. I find myself currently in my most amorphous but interesting position yet. In the scope of a single workday I can go from discussing the finer points of nutritional information to the best way to describe the orbital period of the Earth to the correct syntax of binomial species names.
We’re here for the near future but plan to move out of central Illinois in the long term, to an as-of-yet unspecified destination. That is part of the fun, though. This blog is a place for me to document my adventures living here and expanding my interests and experience.
I love mid-century modern design, Wes Anderson films, sushi, biology, and staying up late.
